Jethete M152 is a creep and corrosion resistant, hardened and tempered steel with a usual upper temperature limit of 560°C. It combines very good toughness and creep rupture properties making it an excellent alloy for use in highly stressed turbine blades, discs, screws, bolts and rings. Jethete M152 is supplied by Aircraft Materials in both bar form, to British Standards BS S151 and BS S159 and in sheet form to Rolls Royce specifications MSRR 6504 and MSRR 6514. It can also be supplied in mill productions to the US Aerospace specification AMS 5719.
Jethete M152 is supplied in various different types of heat treatment depending on the specification required. The standard heat treatments for Jethete M152 are as follows:
BS S151 (MSRR 6503)
Softening: 670-720° C for 6 hours followed by air cool - Designated BS S151A
Harden: 1050° C (+/-10) followed by air cool
Temper: 650° C (+/-5) followed by air cool - Designated BS S151D
BS S159
Softening: 680-700° C for 2 hours min followed by air cool - Designated BS S159A
Harden: 1050° C (+/-10) for 30 minutes min followed by air cool
Temper: 560-590° C for 3 hours min followed by air cool - Designated BS S159D
Stress Relieve: Can be performed on hardened and tempered bars if a cold rolling operation has taken place, by holding at 30° C lower than the tempering temperature.
AMS 5719
Anneal: 691° C (+/-11) for 6 hours min followed by air cool
Harden:1052° C (+/-) for 30 mins followed by oil quench
1st Temper: 560-590° C for 1 hour min followed by air cool
2nd Temper: 538-560° C for 3 hours min followed by air cool
